Excellent. I have, of late, found myself pondering how non-famous the actual score to Ghostbusters is in relation to how well known the film is - in comparison to some of the big John Wiliams/Lucas/Spielberg ones or even Back to the Future/Silvestri.
Does that make any sense?
i only have one other friend that is a real film music buff other than yourself. I base the popularity of scores based on what i remember. if that makes sense. In other words. i have no idea what is popular outside of Williams. i suppose people like Zimmer (lame), but not really sure if ANY score is considered popular. Everyone seems to know the music from Titanic, but i bet half of those people dont know the name of James Horner. The reason i do the show, is to hopefully reach out to people who dont know a film score from their asshole (ie-zimmer).
So, when i say, "I listen to film scores" and they reply "Oh, like John Williams and Hans Zimmer" i reply with..."you should check out this podcast that showcases many other talented composers".
the only reason i do the show is to spread the news of unnoticed talent.
Up Next - Mr. Goldsmith
Goldsmith? Excellent!
SANCTUS!
I'm working, facing away from the TV. My wife is Watching For Your Eyes Only.
During one section I had to turn around (to see if was the "Ski Chase") and say "this music's terrible - that's not John Barry... is this one Bill Conti?"
Sadly, I was correct. My wife is a fiend for reading credits - especially if someone's name sounds a bit rude.
i was thinking of doing a show all about Bond Ski Chases called Bond On Skis.
Is there not to be Skiing in QoS? Could be the time to do it.
Writing "QoS" like that makes it look Klingon. Pronounced "Kosh", probably.
i heard that there was skiing in QOS. I was thinking of the shows in this order. Jerry Goldsmith, "Special" Halloween Episode, then Bond on Skis right before the release of Bond 22.
Superb stuff.
Halloween special, or "Halloween" special?
well, i was doing the "math", and it will be the 13th episode, it will have a spooky theme and will be posted on the 31st.
Awesome. I look forward to that.
i think i will do the Goldsmith on Tues. not sure the theme. but i think it will happen.
I done sent some things your way.
